Lot details Registration No: CYJ355Y Chassis No: WP0ZZZ91ZDS140933 Mot Expiry: Nov 2015
Porsche was not the first manufacturer to offer a removable hard top - Triumph, for example, did so with the TR4 some five years earlier. However, it did popularise the trend and coined and trademarked the Targa name, which it drew from the famous Sicilian Targa Florio race, in which it had enjoyed considerable success over the years. Having dropped the Targa option from its 911 range for some years, Porsche has recently reintroduced such a model to its line-up.
'CYJ 355Y' vacated Porsche's Stuttgart factory in May 1983. Its Black bodywork is matched by Black interior trim. The car was retained by its previous keeper for no less than 21 years and currently displays an unwarranted 128,000 miles. The vendor now grades the 3.0-litre flat-six engine and manual transmission as 'good' and the Targa bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as 'average'. The car is being sold complete with some history.
