Lot details Registration No: YSK 176 Chassis No: ALA3CC457880 Mot Expiry: June 2008
Visually updated by Pininfarina with a new 'glasshouse' and sharper, more a la mode sheetmetal, the Series III Jaguar XJ6 was launched in March 1979. Retaining its predecessor's all-round independent coil-sprung suspension, disc brakes and power assisted rack and pinion steering, it was credited with a class leading ride / handling balance. Powered by a choice of 3.4 litre or 4.2 litre DOHC straight-six engines, the vast majority were specified with automatic transmission. Appreciated for its elegant styling, quiet refinement and inviting cabin, the Series III XJ6 still cuts a dash on today's roads.
Finished in metallic blue with grey cloth upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its 3.4 litre DOHC straight-six engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis and wheels / tyres (while, he rates the bodywork and paintwork as "fair"). Said to have covered just 41,000 miles from new (a figure apparently substantiated by "full service history" and "lots of bills"), it sports the cherished registration number 'YSK 176'. An inexpensive entry into the world of Jaguar motoring, this comparatively low mileage XJ6 is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until June 2008.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
