Here is a truly exceptional Rolls-Royce Camargue, one of only 530 that were handbuilt for a discerning and extremely well heeled batch of clients between 1975 and 1986. Even more noteworthy in the case of this Camargue, though is the fact that the coupe was supplied new to first owner the Sultan of Brunei and, thereafter while in his well stocked stable, it was looked after by Rolls-Royce Motors themselves. The Far Eastern potentate chose Ark Royal Blue paintwork with an interior trimmed in magnolia leather for his Camargue.
In recent receipt of a service costing over £6000 (and we understand a fresh MOT, the certificate for which interested parties are advised to check out in our documents office at Buxton) , the current condition of panels, paintwork and interior, as well as electrical equipment, are rated by the entrant as being very good indeed. Whilst the 6750cc 8-cylinder engine and 3-speed GM 300 automatic transmission, both super smooth in operation, are also reportedly in very good order.
As for the 56,702 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale, this mileage is believed to be the genuine total since new. Once one of the world's most expensive new cars that money could buy - with the gilt-edged provenance of having belonged to one of the world's leading collectors of fine motor cars - awaits your inspection here today...and, we would strongly advise, your bids!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
