Honda had introduced the 250cc CB72 Super Sport or Hawk during 1960 following it with the 305cc CB77 Super Hawk. The new model produced a claimed 28.5 bhp in comparison to the 250's 24 bhp, was virtually identical to its smaller sibling and quickly established itself as Honda's most popular model in the all important US market.
The 1964 example offered was purchased by the vendor in 2010 from Mansfield, in café racer trim. Wishing for the machine to be restored to standard the vendor commissioned the well known specialist Phil Denton of Llanwrst, to restore it with the restoration being completed during 2012. During the restoration a number of high grade stainless steel components have been employed and the machine is described by the vendor as being "totally refurbished" throughout. It is offered with an Mot certificate valid until the 6th June 2014 and a tax disc to July 2014 together with a Swansea V5C and a comprehensive file detailing the restoration and the expenditure on this beautiful machine.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
