Registration No: ECA 292C
Chassis No: 1D51855BW
MOT: July 2021
The MK X's wider track, lower roofline, quadruple headlamps and squat, vaned radiator grille heralded a new image for the marque. It was the first Jaguar Saloon to feature independent rear suspension, while the front had the proven set-up of double wishbones and coil springs. At launch it was powered by a 3.8-litre version of the company's ubiquitous straight-six, DOHC XK engine. However, upgrades for 1964 included: an increase in capacity of the standard engine to 4.2-litres and a new all-synchromesh, four-speed manual gearbox. Braking was by discs all-round and power-assisted steering was standard. By the time of the 1966 London Motorshow, the range had been renamed 420G, some 5,763 of which were built before the model was superseded by the XJ6.
1 of just 3,719 MK X 4.2 Litre cars made to RHD specification ‘ECA292C’ has had just two owners since 1997 and previously featured in Jaguar Enthusiast Monthly magazine. The subject of much past restoration work not to mention an LPG conversion and beautifully retrimmed Beige leather upholstery the MK X is offered with a history file and the vendor currently classes the engine, gearbox, interior trim, electrical equipment and bodywork, as ‘Very Good’ and the paintwork as ‘Good'.
