The Bristol based Douglas concern had been one of the major suppliers of motorcycles to the War Department during the First World War, with approximately 25,000 examples of their horizontally opposed twin seeing service, second only in numbers to Triumph. This stood them in good stead when civilian production resumed in 1919 as their products were held in high regard by returning servicemen. The CW model displaced 350cc and was rated at 2 3/4hp and retained the well proven side valve engine coupled to a three speed gearbox with chain final drive.
This lovely example, which was registered in Dublin during 1925, was restored during 2011 by the vendor at which time new main bearings were fitted to the engine which is described as being in good condition following the rebuild. The magneto was rewound ensuring a healthy spark. The paintwork and brightwork are described as being in very good condition.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
