During what has been one of the most successful production runs of all time, forty-one years to be precise, the original, pre-BMW Mini was available in numerous permutations, from 1969 all being badged Mini.
This 1997 Mini is a very rare John Cooper works car, only fifty of such high performance saloons with the five-speed box having been made. The authenticating plaque for this particular car is still in the two-door car which as full leather trim in green including dash top and knee roll, the dash is in walnut, the door fittings in alloy.
Bodyshell and body panels in British Racing Green are claimed to be in excellent condition. Both 1275cc capacity four-cylinder S engine, said to be in perfect order, and five-speed transmission, also claimed to be in excellent condition, are protected by a sump-guard.
With five S service stamps in the book and only three previous owners, this exclusive S, which is to the most desirable and ultimate specification and had a believed by the vendor to be genuine 37,200 total mileage displayed when entered for the sale, is claimed to be completely original. The latest MOT will be valid until May.
