Lot 62 - 1959 Jaguar XK150 S 3.4 Litre Fixed Head Coupe

1959 Jaguar XK150 S 3.4 Litre Fixed Head Coupe

Lot details
Registration No: 6997 ED
Chassis No: T824926DN
Mot Expiry: March 2006

Although recognisable as a direct descendant of the XK120, the 1957 launched XK150 appeared to be very much wider and roomier than previous models and was certainly far more refined and comfortable. The most significant specification change was to the brakes, with Jaguar Le Mans car developed Dunlop discs all round and the previously special order SE version of the well-proven 3.4-litre six producing 210bhp now standard fit.
Available in roadster, drophead or fixed head coupe form, just 9395 XK150s were manufactured at the Jaguar Cars factory in Coventry between 1957 and the spring of 1961, when the model was replaced by the comparatively volume-made E-Type.
Being auctioned here is a not only an XK150, but a 150S. This original right-hand drive fixed head coupe with 3.4-litre engine first left the Browns Lane works in 1959. Particularly noteworthy features on this example are the original manufacturing numbers, which are all still matching, and the attractive 6997 ED registration.
Chassis and bodywork are described by the vendor as in good condition with blue paintwork and chrome wire wheels also good and the re-Connollised red leather interior said to be clean with all new Wilton carpets.
Reportedly in good order too are the triple SU fed 3442cc XK six-cylinder engine with benefit of additional Kenlowe cooling fan, the four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and all the electrical equipment including original headlights and S model correct spotlights. The latest MOT certificate will be valid until next March.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
