Lot details Registration No: VK 1969 Frame No: 51929 Engine No: 48139 cc: 500 MOT Expiry Date: Exempt
The Model 20 was essentially a twin port version of the illustrious Model 18. The example offered was, according to the factory despatch records, which also confirm the engine and frame numbers as being correct, supplied to M/cs Ltd of Newcastle on Tyne before being sold by Travers Motorcycles of Newcastle on Tyne on the 8th April 1930 to a local clergyman known as the "Flying Vicar". He used the machine to travel around his parish near Newcastle and the motorcycle subsequently remained in his family ownership until 2010.
The motorcycle had periods of inactivity during the 50's and 60's and was re-commissioned in 1990, seeing regular use from then until 2010. It is, according to the vendor, offered in excellent condition and has benefitted from the addition of a new seat, pannier boxes, mudguards, exhaust pipes and silencers. The present owner fitted a new dynamo shield cast using an original as a pattern during 2011 as a replacement for the non standard item previously employed. The Sturmey Archer gearbox contains the correct ratios but is not the original unit fitted and the speedo drive is not currently connected. Offered with a tax disc valid until May 2014 and a Swansea V5C this now MOT exempt motorcycle (the last MOT for the machine was issued in July 2010) has seen little use since 2011.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
