The inspiration for the Rocket Gold Star is largely attributed to Eddie Dow of Gold Star Services of Banbury who built a "special" using a standard Goldie frame powered by an A10 engine. The result proved to be as quick as a Goldie with a far greater degree of civility.
The machine offered has been built around a Gold Star type frame that the vendor purchased from Eddie Dow in the 60's and is fitted with a number of original Dow components including the alloy tank, purchased in 1966 and stored until the machine was built approximately ten years ago and Taylor Dow forks. A BSA A65 Clubman front brake is fitted. The A10 engine has been tuned with high lift cams, a big valve head, balanced crank among the modifications and Lucas racing magneto provides the sparks. Drive is via a BSA gearbox with standard ratios. The machine is described as being in excellent condition throughout and is accompanied by a Swansea V5C and a fresh tax disc.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
