Introduced in 1932, the Talbot 65 was engineered by the brilliant Georges Roesch. Built around a sturdy yet nimble ladder frame chassis equipped with all round leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes, it was powered by a highly efficient 1665cc OHV straight-six engine. Compared favourably with the Rolls-Royce 20/25hp by the contemporary motoring press, many examples boasted the extra refinement of four-speed pre-selector transmission. Among the more elegant variants was the D-backed AX-series six-light saloon with coachwork by Darracq.

Finished in Yellow over Black with Dark Brown interior trim, this particular AX-series saloon was first registered in Paisley, Scotland on October 1st 1933 and is understood to have remained north of the border until 1975. The accompanying history file is said to include "very detailed invoices for much work undertaken by Talbot specialist Ian Polson". Reportedly "a remarkable unmolested original car with patinated leather upholstery", 'VD 2881' is further understood to have had its "engine, pre-selector transmission, brakes and wiring overhauled as required" during the past but to now require attention to its "doors, wings, interior headlining and instruments". Riding on fresh tyres, this delightful Roesch Talbot if offered for sale with buff logbook, V5 registration document, various invoices, period photographs, correspondence with previous owners and MOT certificate valid into next year.
