Honda have always been one of, if not the, most progressive of the volume Japanese car manufacturers and from their earliest days with the N360/600 and S500/600/800 series quickly earned a reputation for being the only Far Eastern manufacturer able to build cars with dynamic qualities on a par with their European competitors. Even so a few eyebrows were raised when in the late 1980s Honda announced their intention to tackle Ferrari head on with their own supercar. When Honda finally revealed the NSX in 1990 however, few could have foreseen just how well they had accomplished this task. For with the NSX Honda had not only produced a car which looked stunning, drove like a thoroughbred and even sounded like a true supercar but they also turned the notion of a traditional supercar on its head by also making the NSX refined and reliable enough to be used as an everyday car. Indeed the NSX even forced Ferrari to rethink its own views on just how usable a supercar should be. Marketed as a Honda in Europe, the Japanese company followed its compatriots Toyota (Lexus) and Nissan (Infiniti) in launching the NSX and its other upmarket models to the US market under a separate brand name - Acura. The car for sale today is an Acura being a US specification car in left hand drive with the more desirable 6 speed manual transmission. Finished in mid metallic blue with a tan leather interior the recorded mileage of 28,400 is believed to be genuine. We are told that the car has had 3 owners from new, the first owner being Honda of North America. The car was then imported the car to the UK in 2000 by its second owner John Thompson (ex-McLaren) when it was registered here. It is described by the vendor as having 'no known faults' with engine, electrics, transmission, paintwork, body, interior and chassis all being described as good, and new rear tyres. A full MOT valid until February 2007 comes with the car together with the all important red master key in its unopened packaging and original owners handbook.
PLEASE NOTE: The estimate is £15,000 - 25,000 and not £8,000 - 12,000 as in the catalogue.
