Derek and Don Rickman made off road, race and road motorcycles using their own frame designs for fifteen years after commencement in 1960. Frame kits were supplied to allow home builders to fit a variety of British motorcycle manufacturer's power units, as none of the major marques would supply them with complete new engines. Rickman kits were well respected for their excellent fibreglass bodywork and outstanding nickel plated frames branded ''Metisse'', the translation of which, as applied to a combination of unrelated but harmonious components, appropriately enough is 'Mongrel' . In the 1980's the Rickman/Metisse tradition was assured when the brothers sold the company to marque enthusiast Pat French, MRD Metisse was born and was to continue production as before almost until the end of the 20th century.
The MRD Metisse featured in today's sale would appear to date from this period being frame number MRD 792, which is fitted with the desirable Triumph TR6P 650cc. twin engine from the late sixties. Finished in attractive green livery the whole machine looks to be in excellent order and should be a successful contender, in the right hands, if entered in today's classic events.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
