Labourdette occupies an esteemed place in the history of carriage and early automobile body building, arguably constructing the finest coachwork in terms of design and quality on the Continental mainland. The French firm successfully made the transition from coaches to building bodywork for motor cars, and from the earliest days of motoring until WW2 and beyond, Labourdette were always the most innovative in their field. From lightweight `skiff' designs employing boat-style decking, to voluptuous aerodynamic bodies, each body is generally reckoned to be a work of art in itself. They also consistently catered for their discerning clientele by offering them a wide choice of superbly detailed options and accessories.
In terms of attractive styling, fine proportions and quality fittings, this is said to be a perfect example of Labourdette coachbuilding from circa 1907. The body provides individual front seats for chauffeur and passenger, while the rear compartment is very commodious in its design, with a rear bench seat, a pair of pillar-mounted swivel chairs in the centre and three spring-loaded fold-down occasional seats. On close inspection, it is possible to see that nearly every piece of metal framework is stamped with the body number, and the body even retains original division-mounted opera sidelights by Henry Labourdette.
Professionally refurbished to a high standard, the interior has been upholstered in pale blue Bedford cord, and the front seats in dark red leather. All metal fittings have been re-nickeled, and the bodywork primed ready for final painting to suit an owner's preferred colour scheme. The total cost of the restoration alone has exceeded £15,000.
The dimensions are as follows:
a. the width between the rails is 35 inches
b. the width between the wheel arches is 40 inches
c. the total length of the roof is 133 inches - this is adjustable by approximately 1 inch if required
d. from the centre of the rear wheel arch to the back of the front drivers seat is 52 inches
