Chassis No: LB2901171
Mot Expiry: None

Formed in 1906, Lagonda produced a range of sports models that led directly to its historic victory at Le Mans, 1935. By then, the books weren't balancing, however, and the company passed to solicitor Alan Good, who not only saved it, but managed to lure W.O. Bentley away from Rolls-Royce. In 1947 Lagonda changed hands once more, this time to millionaire industrialist David Brown, who merged it with Aston Martin. Production recommenced with an all-new 2.6-litre model. The cars were available as two-door Convertibles or four-door Saloons and powered by the W.O. Bentley-designed 2580cc straight-six engine that would later also propel the Aston Martin range to fame. The Lagonda's all-new chassis featured fully independent suspension all round (a first for a British car at the time) - coil springs at the front and torsion bars at the rear - and was clothed in a flowing Frank Feeley-penned body. Braking was by Lockheed drums - inboard at the rear. Steering was by rack and pinion. For 1953, the engine was increased in capacity to 3.0-litres and the model range changed to comprise a two-door Fixed-Head Coupe built by recently acquired Aston Martin subsidiary Tickford, and a convertible Drophead Coupe manufactured by Graber of Switzerland. A four-door Saloon followed in 1954; the fixed-head Coupe being dropped shortly afterwards. A MKII version was introduced the same year, whose specification featured a floor-mounted gearchange. A heater, radio and integral hydraulic jacks were standard equipment. The production of the convertible ceased in 1957, and that of the Saloon in 1958. Just 270 3-litres were made.

The Lagonda 3-litre offered was produced in 1956 and sports Red coachwork and a Beige leather interior. Forming part of a private Aston Martin and Lagonda collection, 'TGT 884' has lain dormant for some time and would therefore benefit from a degree of recommissioning prior to being put back on the road. The vendor regards the paintwork and interior as "good" and the car comes complete with a copy of the original build sheet.
