Lot details Registration No: CMD 237H Chassis No: DBSF15619RC Mot Expiry: Nov 2004
This 1970 Newport Pagnell built Aston Martin DBS was first supplied to Bermuda, hence the factory air-conditioning. Finished pale yellow, the righthand drive 2-door coupe had fuel injection and was an automatic. Early in its life, however, the injection equipment was changed by the factory under warranty to the triple carburettor set-up still under the bonnet. During a fully documented £60,000 restoration 1989-91, the colour was changed to today's Mason's Black, the car becoming a regular award winner at Concours events for many years. In 1997, marque specialist Rex Woodgate rectified suspension, steering, electrical and other faults. In 1999, a 5-speed manual gearbox to factory specification replaced the original auto-box and the final drive was changed to suit manual transmission.
Acquired at auction two years ago at Aston Martin Works Service, CMD 237H has been driven sparingly since and is only being sold in order to fund a Morgan Aero 8 project. Current condition of fixed head bodywork and black paintwork is described as good and the black trimmed interior fair. Both 3997cc 6-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in good order. On file are restoration and service invoices, V5 and current MOT. The 62,774 mileage displayed when entered for this sale is believed to be the genuine total for the GT from new. Featured in The Compleat Aston Martin and the 2000 Factory Calendar, DBSs don't come much better sorted than this one.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
