Lot details Registration No: FJI 787 Chassis No: SAJJNACC7CC138564 Mot Expiry: Aug 2013
The XJS was Jaguar's replacement for the iconic E-Type. Based on the XJ Saloon, the Coupe made its first appearance in September 1975, powered by the company's 5.3-litre V12 engine mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox. The following year, the model took to the race tracks, taking first and second place in the Silverstone TT. The Cabriolet version, the XJ-SC, made its debut in 1983, equipped with the new 3.6-litre AJ6 engine. This two-seater (or 2+2-seater) model was not a full convertible, having a non-removable centre section and fixed cant rails. The option of Jaguar's established 5.3-litre V12 engine came in 1985 and in 1988 the Targa-type body was succeeded by a fully Convertible one. Some 12,372 Convertible XJSs and 5,013 Cabriolet XJ-SCs were made before the model range was replaced by the XK8 in 1990.
This very tidy-looking XJ-SC hails from 1987 and sports Metallic Gold bodywork teamed with Light Brown leather upholstery. It has apparently been the subject of much work in recent times and the vendor now feels its bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, AJ6 six-cylinder engine and five-speed manual gearbox are all in "very good" order and is selling the Jaguar complete with the cherished registration 'FJI 787' and an MOT valid until August 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
