Lot details
Registration No: 934 BKO
Chassis No: S824151DN
Mot Expiry: Dec 2014

Entered from a deceased estate based in Spain's exclusive Sotogrande district, chassis S824151DN was built as a home market, special equipment model on 2nd December 1957. Road registered the following month, it was supplied new to The Mobil Oil Co Ltd of London SW1. According to an application made to the XK Register by its then keeper, Philip Wright Esq of Hartlepool, the Jaguar was off the road between 1976 and 1997. Interestingly, the earliest MOT certificate on file was issued on 1st January 1974 at an indicated 97,381 miles, while the next one was issued on 15th August 1997 at an indicated 97,565 miles (the Fixed Head Coupe's odometer currently shows an unwarranted 21,434 miles). As well as reclaiming its original registration number - `934 BKO' - Mr Wright was also responsible for having the XK150 restored by Classic Cats of Northumberland (interior retrim, suspension / brake overhaul), Heritage Classics of Teeside (chassis repairs, bodywork refurbishment / repaint, rewire), Shearborne Engineering of Stockton-on-Tees (engine block re-bored, oversize pistons fitted, cylinder head rejuvenated, replacement crankshaft with rear oil seal sourced, new timing chains / tensioners installed) and Autogear (exchange four-speed manual / overdrive gearbox). Further enhanced during Dr John Bowles' ownership (2004-2013), the Jaguar benefited from attention to its: brake master cylinder, electrical equipment, ignition system, exhaust, steering rack, cylinder head, thermostat, clutch master cylinder, electric cooling fan, carburettors and hubs (x4). Appearing to retain its original 3.4 litre engine (number V2206-8) `934 BKO' was sold to its late owner by marque specialist Millford Contract Engineering for £46,500 in July 2013. Subsequently upgraded via the installation of an alternator, power steering and air-conditioning, this appealing XK150 is offered for sale with JDHT Certificate, myriad parts bills, assorted invoices (Classic Cats, Heritage Classics, Shearborne Engineering, Paul Roach, John Balls Garage, Suffolk Jaguar) and numerous MOT certificates (including one valid until December 2014).
