Lot details Registration No: WYR595N Chassis No: GHD5351173G Mot Expiry: May 2006
Introduced in 1965, the MGB GT was a more comfortable and versatile proposition than its roadster sister. With a top speed of over 100mph courtesy of their 1798cc, B-series engine and a capable chassis featuring independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering and disc / drum brakes, each version merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Today they both enjoy a strong following and have spawned a dedicated support industry making them among the most practical and cost effective of all classic cars.
Finished in white with tan cloth upholstery, this particular 'chrome bumper' example is described by its present keeper of four years as being in very good overall condition. Restored in the mid 1990s, it is said to have had eight owners and covered a genuine 72,680 miles from new. Equipped with a four-speed plus overdrive manual gearbox and original Webasto sunroof, this "reliable motor" that "starts first time" is apparently "stored in a dry garage and used regularly only in dry conditions". Waxoyled and undersealed, it is offered for sale with a history file that includes "all MOTs and receipts" from the year of manufacture onwards.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
