This is an extremely rare survivor from the final years of production at William Durant's Locomobile factory based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Indeed, it is believed to be one of only four known to exist. An original right-hand drive export model which was previously registered in New Zealand, the car was subsequently imported into Holland before coming to the UK in 2006. Power comes from a Miller design OHV 3.2-litre straight eight developed by talented engineer Barney Roos and built under licence by Continental mated to a three speed gearbox with mechanical overdrive. This design has been dubbed "the first engine ever to do 3000rpm continuously" and examples ran successfully at Indianapolis in 1925.
Finished in white over blue with red interior and featuring an auster screen for rear passenger comfort at speed, this attractive tourer is described by the vendor as having "very good" engine and gearbox, "very good" interior trim and "excellent" paintwork. MoT exempt, it is offered with current road fund licence to February 2014.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
