Lot details
Registration No: PE55XRR
Chassis No: SA944300004H00378
Mot Expiry: Sept 2015

Introduced in 2004 as a replacement for the Plus 8, the first series Morgan Roadster was powered by a Ford 3.0 litre 24-valve V6 engine allied to five-speed manual transmission. Bodied in steel / aluminium over an ash frame and weighing just 940kg, the two-seater was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and 134mph. Entered from a deceased estate based in Spain's exclusive Sotogrande district, `PE55 XRR' was sold to its late owner by Berry Brook Morgan of Exeter for £31,000 on 21st April 2011 at an indicated 8,053 miles.

Fitted with a renewed, factory-supplied 3-litre V6 engine by the same main dealer some eight months and 5,400 miles later (corresponding invoice for £7,944.99 on file), the Roadster provided good service until contacting a stone wall during early 2013. By then domiciled in Spain, the decision was taken to convert the two-seater to left-hand drive specification as well as returning it to roadworthy condition. Entrusted to Tim Ayres' Dorset-based New Elms Morgan Workshop, `PE55 XRR' was treated to some £11,350 worth of new parts including: a galvanised chassis / chassis crosshead, steering rack (LHD), radiator, windscreen, cowl, radiator grille, radiator fan, stub axle, wings (1 x front, 2 x rear), over riders, road wheels (x3), bonnets, inner front wing valances, front side lights and pedal box parts etc.

Further benefiting from a full repaint, walnut dashboard, new Twillfast mohair hood and re-trimmed side screens etc, the Morgan passed its last MOT test on 25th March 2014 at an indicated 19,252 miles with no advisories. There is no record of the Roadster's accident on HPi and its renovation / LHD conversion is understood to have cost some £29,881.94. In many respects an almost new car, `PE55 XRR' now shows 20,300 miles to its odometer and is accompanied by a UK V5C Registration Document and sundry paperwork.

PLEASE NOTE: This lot has a MOT certificate valid until September 2015.
