Lot details Registration No: KO 9929 Chassis No: A63282 Mot Expiry: April 2004
On offer here is a genuine Austin Seven rolling chassis, which was built at the Longbridge works in 1928 and bodied in period with van coachwork by Thomas Startin, also of Birmingham. The vendor claims that his is one of only six such A7s with original van bodywork like this known to have survived. An inspection will discover that many of the features haven't been got at with the windows at the back made out of ye olde bevel-glass and the nickel-plated fittings as per original. The radiator surround is black and there is a period-correct calormeter on top so everyone else in the traffic jam can check out your water temperature!
The proud owner tells us that the ignition is still by magneto, and the very original body has been revamped and repainted in the current maroon. The cosmetic condition of paintwork and black interior, as well as the 747cc 4-cylinder engine and 3-speed gearbox are all claimed to be in very good order. An Austin Seven van, like this one, has become a rare item.
Please Note: This vehicle is MOT'd until April 2004.
