The original Slippery Sam had been prepared at Meriden, using a T150 as the basis, for use in the Production TT taking fourth place in the 1970 race before securing its first of five consecutive victories in 1971.
The replica offered was built during the early eighties using genuine Les Williams components. Following its construction it saw very little use resulting and was not raced. In 2003 the decision was taken to restore the motorcycle to its former glory with much of the restoration work being undertaken by Thunder Engineering who upgraded the engine to full competition specification. The crank was lightened and balanced, as was the clutch, and Carillo connecting rods were fitted. Original Mega Cycle cams control the lift of the Black Dymond valves with the assistance of new valve springs and guides supplied by Norman Hyde. Ignition is provided by the latest Boyer digital system. The distinctive "Slippery Sam" white with red and blue livery graces the fairing which is equipped with twin headlights and is described as being, along with the rest of the machine, in very good condition throughout. The vendor describes it as being "ready to race, parade or fast road use" with an Mot certificate valid until August 2013 and a Swansea V5C accompanying it.
