Volkswagen's Type 2 has long since acquired cult status courtesy of such diverse celebrity owners as Jamie Oliver, Roger Daltrey and Jenson Button. It has been home to generations of travelling Australians, helped hippies survive the `60s/`70s, become the surfer's transport of choice and been available in Bus, Van, Pickup and Camper guises. This LHD 1975 two-tone Microbus is finished in White over Blue and trimmed in two-tone Grey vinyl. It evidently comes with lots of history, including a service book containing 14 stamps. Most importantly, a new 1600cc EFI engine was installed in August 2013 at a cost of £2,750 plus fitting. A further £1,000 was invested in `KNH 915N' at this time, for which invoices are included. The vendor currently regards both the new engine and four-speed manual gearbox as `good' and the interior trim as `original', but volunteers the bodywork and paintwork could now benefit from some TLC.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
