Introduced directly after the Second World War the Superalce was introduced to replace the extremely successful Alce military motorcycle that had provided exemplary service for the Italian armed forces between 1939 and 1945. The new model largely retained the cycle parts of its predecessor but the engine, which was derived from the V series singles, adopted over head valves instead of the ioe configuration employed by the Alce. Two versions were produced during the models eleven year production life, machines destined for the armed forces featured a largely painted finish with very little plating whereas machines destined for use by the Carabinieri, although still painted light olive green featured a more flamboyant finish with additional chrome plating.
The example offered was restored in Italy before coming to the UK and features the more flamboyant finish. Presented to a very high standard it is possible that it was restored by the factory and the frame number could suggest that it was the first example built. It is offered with a Swansea V5C.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
