1985 Coleman-Milne Minster

Lot details
Registration No: C165EBV
Chassis No: FJ01386
Mot Expiry: Oct 2007

Specialists in converting executive cars into limousines and hearses, British coachbuilders Coleman-Milne have worked their transformation on models as diverse as the Austin Montego and Jaguar XJ. However, they will always be best known for their limousine conversions of the largest Ford models, initially the Zephyr/Zodiac Mk IV and then all three generations of Granada. Still recognisably a Ford Granada but with subtle modifications giving the required degree of dignity, many of these cars can still be found giving dependable service today.
The 1985 car on sale here today comes from the last year of Mk 2 Granada production and is to Minster specification. Finished in silver with a grey leather interior it is fitted with the standard Ford 2.8 V6 carburettor engine and automatic gearbox. Originally built for the then chairman of BP International, Mr Bob Malpas, this Minster was acquired by its current owner in 1992 (when the mileage was guaranteed at 55,968).The car was taken off the road in 1993 and the woodwork and facia restored as well as a new speedometer being fitted (this now shows 25,829 at the time of cataloguing). The engine was reconditioned in June 2002 and full details of the work undertaken are given in the history file. Security locks are fitted to both front doors together with an alarm and also a heated front windscreen. All aspects of the cars bodywork, interior, electrics and transmission are described as 'very good', the chassis having been Waxoyled. Valued for insurance purposes by the Granada Enthusiasts Club at £8,000 in 2001 (copy on file), the current owner has used the car only for shows and the trophies awarded for the car are included together with a large number of spares including 2 front doors, rear door glass and bumpers. MOT'd until October 2007 and taxed until April 2007, this Minster is ready to drive away from today's sale.

PLEASE NOTE: The estimate for this vehicle is £3,500 - 4,500 and not £2,500 - 3,500 as appeared in the catalogue.
