The 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the 1983 Frankfurt Motorshow. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer was made available in Coupe, Targa and Cabriolet guises. Estimated to be 80 percent new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to a five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph, the Carrera 3.2 was progressively refined and updated over the course of its six-year production run. From 1984, those looking for that little bit extra in terms of poise and road presence could opt for the 'Sport' package (later known as 'Sport Equipment') which included a deeper front valance, 'tea tray' rear spoiler, Bilstein dampers, wider wheels arches and 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels with black centres.
The striking manual gearbox Targa Sport on offer is a right-hand drive example from 1985. It wears the appropriate registration 'RHR 911S' and is presented with Black bodywork teamed with a logo cloth/leather Medium Beige interior. An ex-Porsche Club GB show car, it is understood to have had 10 former keepers and is currently showing a total of 88,477 miles, during the last 1,000 of which a service has been carried out. As far as the vendor is aware, the Porsche is completely standard and he presently considers it to have 'excellent' bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, flat-six air cooled engine and manual transmission, and is now looking to sell the car complete with: recovered and resealed Targa top; set of new Bridgestone N4 tyres; original Blaupunkt stereo/electric aerial; rear seat belts; extensive service history; keys/fobs; owners books and wallet; a large piece of spare logo cloth; plus a touring kit (ie spare bulbs etc).
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
