1993 Legendary Sports Cars 427 Cobra Evocation

Sold for £16,875

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: L5 COB
Chassis No: LS001394
Mot Expiry: T.B.A.

Not to be confused with the many kit car evocations of the immortal Cobra, this splendid-looking machine was built in-house by Legendary Sports Cars Ltd of Ashbourne Derbyshire from all new parts. The tig-welded tubular spaceframe chassis features machined connection, alloy uprights, Ford appproved hub assemblies, and fully adjustable double wishbone and coil-over dampers all round. The Ford approved braking system comprises outboard discs at each corner, ventilated on the front. Power is supplied a by a fuel injected 302ci (5.0-litre) Ford unit tuned to run on unleaded fuel and equipped with full engine management system. The powerplant drives through a five-speed manual Borg Warner overdrive gearbox to a lightweight Ford differential. The Cobra rides on 16inch polished alloy wheels - 7inch front, 9.5inch rear - and is equipped with a stainless steel exhaust and fuel tank with carbon canister ventilation system. The Blue painted body is made from high strength laminated GRP and the interior trimmed in Blue Connolly hide, complemented by similarly-coloured Wilton carpets.

Built in 1993 at a cost of £44,000, the right-hand drive sale car was purchased new by the vendor the following year and is understood to have completed just 13,300 trouble-free miles to date. It has been housed in a heated garage, rarely ventured out in anything but dry conditions and serviced on a regular basis. The vendor currently considers the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox to all be in "good" order and is offering this stunning looking sports car complete with 11 months' worth of MOT. Also included is the highly appropriate registration plate `L5 COB' (5-litre Cobra), an original sales brochure (the cover of which features the car on offer) and a photograph of `L5 COB' taken at this year's `Stars & Stripes' show in Knutsford.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
