The original Avanti was produced by Studebaker between June 1962 and December 1963 and featured Raymond Loewy inspired styling that certainly turned heads on its launch at the 1962 New York Automobile show as indeed it continues to do so today.

Following Studebaker's cessation of Avanti production, the rights to continue building the model were acquired by Indiana dealers Nate and Arnold Altman and Leo Newman who introduced the Avanti II in 1965. The Avanti II was powered by a 327 CID (5.4-litre) Corvette engine which produced some 300hp - enough to endow the fibreglass bodied car with excellent performance.

Finished in Gold with Brown interior, this automatic transmission example is understood to have enjoyed just 6 owners from new. Imported from Arizona in 2005, we are advised refurbishment works were carried out in 2010 and the vendor now rates the bodywork as "superb" with the engine, paintwork, transmission, electrics and interior being "excellent". Displaying an unwarranted 20,564 miles on its odometer this rare and highly individual motor car is one of just 59 produced in 1966 and believed to be one of just 7 resident in the UK. An advanced design for its time, the car is accompanied by a Swansea V5 document and is expected to possess a fresh MoT by the time of sale.
