1925 Ford Model T Saloon

Estimated at £7,500 - £8,500

Lot details
Registration No: SV 8937
Chassis No: 11082408
Mot Expiry: Jan 2005

This Model T left the Ford works 22 January 1925. Exported to Denmark, 11082408 was purchased by Chief of Police P Mogensen 5 May and registered U 465 16 May. Farmer Holger Jensen acquired it 30 April 1946, selling to brick-layer Jens Nielsen 21 October 1954. Student Robert Hove owned it 3 August 1956 to 10 December 1960 when it was acquired by Edward Bacon who imported it to the UK where it was given the TU 16 registration 25 January 1961. Via Delamere Car Sales, Chatfield Ford owned it 9 April 1986 to 20 September 2001 when it was re-registered SV 8937 by new owner Mr A Norton. The vendor bought it 5 October 2001 from Model T specialists Tuckett Brothers.
The history file contains original registration document, export and import papers, original buff logbooks, sales invoices, receipts for work carried out and most MOTs from 1985. During current ownership, the front wheels have been respoked and new bearings fitted. The wheel rims were removed and sand-blasted, and repaired or replaced, and the tubes were renewed. Both chassis and 2-door saloon bodywork are said to be satisfactory with few chips to the tidy black paintwork and the brown interior is OK. Whilst the 2896cc 4-cylinder engine, which is reportedly strong, 2-speed transmission and rear axle were all removed and overhauled, and the engine bay was rewired during 2003. The MOT is current until next January.
