Maserati's history is a tangled web, but has resulted in some great cars. Formed by the Maserati brothers it was taken over by Adolfo Orsi in 1937 and it was during his son's reign that the first Quattroporte was born. The fifth generation model was a Pininfarina design unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Motorshow and powered by an uprated version of the Gran Turisomo 4.2-litre V8 engine. With c.400bhp on tap, the newcomer could be hustled to 62mph in 5.6 seconds and boasted a top speed of almost 170mph.
This very impressive-looking 2004 right-hand drive Quattroporte V is finished in Blu Sebring Metallic coupled with Tan leather trim and walnut finishings. The considerable specification includes: a Cambio Corsa six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift and sports mode; refurbished 18-inch Maserati alloy wheels shod with recent Pirelli tyres; ABS; multiple airbags; Sat/Nav; hands-free-phone; CD music system; electrically adjustable front and rear seats; dual zone climate control; drinks chiller; electric glass sunroof; rear picnic tables and blind. 'FN04 DZA' reportedly comes complete with original manuals, two keys and a history file with fully stamped service book showing all services have been carried out by Maserati dealers or specialists, the last of which was in February. Tremendous luxury and performance at an affordable price.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
