The E-Type replacing XJS appeared in Jaguar dealer showrooms from 1975. Sharing much of its running gear with the XJ6 and XJ12 saloons, albeit with shortened wheelbase and 5.3-litre twelve underbonnet, the Malcolm Sayer styled model was much more of a grand tourer with a decent sized boot than a sportscar.
This early XJS coupe only had one owner for the past fourteen years and, according to the entrant, comes with many thousands of pounds worth of invoices detailing work carried out as well as the all-important service details.
Currently, the righthand drive shell is described as being very good and the fixed head bodywork superb with claimed to be immaculate black paint and very good black leather interior. Both the 5343cc 12-cylinder motor, a technically enormously impressive piece of kit which is capable of delivering stacks of supersmooth power, as well as the 3-speed automatic transmission are also said to be in very good order and all the electrical equipment good too. The MOT was renewed, we understand, only last month.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
