Lot details Registration No: 6867 DU Chassis No: TS796810 Mot Expiry: Nov 2015
The final iteration of the TR3, the TR3A, appeared in 1957. It was instantly recognisable by its wider front grille, exterior door handles and lockable boot handle. It continued in production until 1962, by which time 58,236 are said to have been built. Contemporary road tests achieved 0-60mph acceleration times of some 11.5 seconds and a mean top speed of a whisker under 110mph.
A right-hand drive `home market' car, `6867 DU' was first registered in Coventry in 1960. It is resplendent in Bright Red bodywork that's matched with contrasting White-piped Black interior trim. It rides on Silver-painted wire wheels and the specification further includes overdrive for the top three ratios of the four-speed manual gearbox and seat belts. The venerable TR was the subject of an early `body-off' restoration and apparently remained with its previous owner for no less than 36 years. A good-looking example of this much loved British classic.
