According to the owner of this very well presented 1933-dated Austin 7 special, the vehicle was acquired from Vintage Carriages of Delph in 1999. At this time, she tells us the two-seater sports was unpainted and untrimmed with no wiring, seats or floor present. However, chassis and bodywork, as well as both engine and transmission, were in excellent condition and, over the next eighteen months, the car was totally rebuilt and the project completed.
The main body is made from aluminium and has been finished in Ferrari Corsa red with the steel wings in black. Having been painted to an extremely high standard, alloy and steel bodywork and paintwork are currently said to be superb. Seat and trim are in red leather, also described as being in superb condition, and the dash made from walnut.
The car is fitted with a sports front axle and has the preferred Bowdenex conversion to the front brakes. The wiring is new, the CAV 4-pole dynamo has been configured to suit an AO Services voltage regulator and the lighting has been converted to 12 volts. The four-cylinder engine is a two-bearing 747cc power unit which, says the vendor, had been rebuilt prior to her ownership, featuring an alloy sports cylinder head, performance manifolding and an SU carb. Motor and four-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in very good order. The current MOT will be valid until October 2005 and the tax disc will not need to be renewed until next May.
