Lot 39 - 1974 Jensen Interceptor Convertible

1974 Jensen Interceptor Convertible

Lot details
Registration No: SRW496M
Chassis No: 9506
Mot Expiry: July 2005

Following the GRP-bodied CV8 MkI to MKIII, the Chrysler V8 engine, in enlarged form, was again used to power the Italian-styled, steel-bodied Interceptor replacement, the first version of which, the MkI, came out in September 1966. Later in the same year, and additional to the MkI model, an FF version with 4-wheel drive system from Harry Ferguson Research and Dunlop Maxaret anti-lock brakes caused quite a sensation. Three versions of the FF were produced from 1966 to 1971.

Offered here is one of only sixteen righthand drive MkIII convertibles that were produced by the original Jensen Motors Limited factory in West Bromwich, this particular car made in 1974. Included are the original steering wheel as well as a handbook and workshop manual. On file, too, is service history going back almost from new.

With 54,000 miles on the clock when entered for this auction, the current condition of the open 2-door bodyshell, painted in Royal Blue metallic, and the light tan leather interior are described as good. No oxidisation is apparent on the alloys wheels Whilst the 8-cylinder motor of 7212cc capacity - showing correct oil pressure, says the vendor, with no overheating - and the automatic transmission are reportedly in good order.. Possibly one of the best Interceptor convertibles available, with no coachwork rattles, SRW 496M is a joy to drive, says the vendor.
PLEASE NOTE: Although the catalogue description says 'Last MOT'd in July 1995' this car does in fact have an MOT until July 2005.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
