The immortal E-Type made its debut at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show and, 50 years on, continues to mesmerise enthusiasts of all generations. There are few collectors who wouldn't make room for one somewhere in their garage.
According to its history file, this superb-looking right-hand drive 4.2-litre example was manufactured on September 14th 1966 and delivered to its supplying dealer, Henlys London. At some point, it was then exported to the USA, and it was from the Kendall Car Company of San Bernadino, California that it was purchased by Mr & Mrs Robinson of Flookburgh, Cumbria in 1990. In recent times, it was discovered in a dishevelled condition after eighteen years of storage, stripped back to bare metal and repaired as necessary. Andrew Wilkinson's bodyshop at Aspatria did the preparation and painting and Border Car Repairs handled the final assembly, plus a notable degree of uprating that includes: an engine with big valve head, 9.5:1 compression ratio, injection cams, wide blade rods, short skirt pistons, high pressure oil pump and cooler, S3 ignition pack, special exhaust manifold allied to a stainless steel system, triple 45 DCOE Weber carburetters, alloy radiator, brass header tank, and electric fan. The unit is mated to a close-ratio gearbox that drives through a 3.0:1 limited slip differential. The suspension sports competition mountings with poly bushes, adjustable dampers and uprated torsion bars; the braking features four-pot callipers by Coopercraft and the car rides on Pirelli-shod six-inch competition specification wire wheels.
Finished in Carmen Red and trimmed in Black leather, 'PHH 125E' is now regarded by the vendor as having "excellent" bodywork and engine, "very good" paintwork and transmission and "good" interior trim. This stunningly-presented Q car is on the button and being sold with history file including photos of the restoration and an MOT into June 2012.
