Offered here is a 1969-built Austin-badged Mini Cooper, a righthand drive and only 3-owner Mk2 Cooper with 998cc twin carb engine, finished in Aqua Blue with Navy Blue vinyl interior. The first lady owner traded in her Mk1 Mini Cooper to purchase this Mk2 on 1 January 1970 and, appreciating the sport saloon so much, then kept it for the next twenty-three years.
In the late 1980s, £3000 was spent on a brand new bodyshell as well as renewing a subframe and rebuilding the gearbox (potential purchasers can inspect the invoices detailing the work carried out by checking out the paperwork file in our documents office at Buxton). Since this rebuild, the car has only done about 12,000 miles attending Mini events and shows.
Claimed still to be rust-free and to original specification, with rear belts, heated rear screen recently renewed exhaust, the overall cosmetic and mechanical condition is described by the vendor as excellent and driving like new. The current MOT test certificate will not require renewing until next February.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
