This fabulous SL500 has many extras including a glass tilt slide sunroof and heated seats. It was evidently supplied by Westwood Garage Blackburn and still has the dealer tax disc holder and key fob. There is no history file or book pack with the car is it has been misplaced during a house move of the current owner of 7 years. There was a speedometer change at 19554 miles by MB -Wirral Ltd with documentation to support this. The old Speedometer is present also. This is quite clearly a car that has been correctly stored with a recent service bill for £547 on file.
Daimler-Benz has produced an SL (Sport Leicht) model since the mid-1950s, when the landmark 300SL and 190SL were unveiled. The second generation car (W113), was the much loved `Pagoda' roofed design and the third, the much bigger and apparently everlasting R107 Series. The fourth, the R129 Series, was launched at the 1989 Geneva Salon and was a beautifully-engineered motorcar that bristled with technical refinement and innovative safety features. The specification included independent suspension all round (double wishbone at the front/five link system at the rear), adaptive damping, ventilated disc brakes with ABS, electronic stability control, integral roll-over bar and front air bags. Some 213,089 examples were manufactured over the R129's 12-year reign.
PLEASE NOTE: The vendor advises us that the electronic hardtop release and electric / memory seats on this lot are currently inoperative. He took the car to marque specialist MB Motors of Chester Ltd on 16/07/20 where a faulty roof control module was reportedly diagnosed. The infra-red central locking is not currently working either.
PLEASE NOTE: This lot is fitted with an Alpine RDS Cassette Receiver and not a DAB radio as previously stated. Also one of the blinds for the storage compartment in front of the armrest is now missing.
