Lot 36 - 1978 Triumph TR7 Convertible

1978 Triumph TR7 Convertible

Lot details
Registration No: XSO746S
Chassis No: ATC00013UMA
Mot Expiry: June 2005

One of only three development cars, this TR7 V8 is one of only three with the highly collectible `ATC' chassis number. Although originally made in 1978 - unusually, with bulkhead moved back four inches to accommodate the 3528cc motor being fitted further back in the car as per the works TR8s - the right-hand drive two-seater was retained by the factory until 1991, since when it has only had one owner. Works development cars seldom come onto the open market, this one the subject of articles and, more recently, exhibited in the Grampian Museum.
Check out the documents file for what is surely the ultimate spec - such as newly rebuilt front adjustable platform Bilsteins, works anti-roll bar, 280lbs rally springs and inner turrets with impact mounts; at the rear, lowered arms with adjustable mounts and, again, 280lbs uprated springs with Bilstein shockers, and rear axle fitted with LSD.
Gearbox, diff and wheel bearings have been recently replaced and Hardy Spicer slipper/spine type propshaft specially built. At the front are AP Racing competition four-pot calipers and ventilated discs with works alloys hubs, larger capacity master cylinder and new brake-bias valve; at the back, competition drum brake shoes with TR8-type wheel cylinders. Beneath works extensions are Superlite alloys, 7x15 shod with new 205/50x15 tyres at the front and 8x15 with 225/50x15 at the rear. A spares package is included.
Currently, red paintwork and black and red cloth interior are rated as being all good. The 15,128 miles displayed when entered is believed by the entrant to be genuine. The MOT will not require renewal until next June.
PLEASE NOTE: The vendor has informed us that this car comes with a full tonneau cover, racing seats and harnesses, Panasonic flip front radio cassette, spares package in boot complete with racing hoses to engine. At 2500rpm in 5th gear she is doing 80mph.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
