Laverda revised the SF series twin during 1974 replacing the drum front brake of the first series with, initially, a single Brembo front disc brake, quickly replaced by a twin Brembo disc system and a dual seat. For 1976 a further and final revision was introduced typed the SF3. The new machine retained the excellent engine and frame of its forebears but benefited from revised styling reflecting the changing fashion of the time. Key to the styling refinements was the adoption of a set of cast, five spoke alloy wheels manufactured for Laverda by the FLAM foundry, a company owned by Laverda, and a new dual seat with an integrated tail was adopted. A 280mm Brembo rear disc replaced the drum employed by the SF and SF2, complimenting the twin discs employed at the front.
The example offered was renovated by the vendor last year. Work carried out included new silver paintwork, a new saddle, tyres and battery. A stainless steel exhaust system and Koni "Dial a Ride" rear shock absorbers are fitted to the motorcycle which is described by the vendor as having a very strong engine and transmission, very good cycle parts and cosmetics and good electrics. The motorcycle was ridden to Dijon this May following the renovation and is offered with a Swansea V5C, an MOT certificate valid until the 4th April and a road fund licence valid until the 31st October 2011.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
