The fourth version of the Ford Escort was launched in March 1986, with only a small number of changes. Although popularly regarded as a fourth-generation model (and is popularly known as the "Mark IV"), internally within Ford it was regarded as a Mark III facelift. The RS Turbo was introduced in July 1986 costing £10,028 when new and would reach a top speed of 124mph. Around 22,100 RS Turbo's were produced during the Mark IV's lifespan.
This RS Turbo finished in Mercury Grey has been in its current ownership since January and has been subjected to c.£7,000 expenditure with the vast majority of these bills on file. Work completed includes a full respray, wheel refurbishment, new windscreen, and interior refresh. The RS has also been subjected to aqua blasting part refurbishment and dealer plates, along with an engine rebuild in 2018 which included fitting a Kent cam and adjustable pulley. With 86,950 miles from new, and 6 former keepers, the one prior to the vendor owning the car for 11 years. The Escort is provided with an extensive collection of invoices from the vendor's custodianship, and further previous invoices and MOTs, along with a current MOT through to January 2021.
