Lot details
Registration No: XMW 48A
Chassis No: RS30-021282
Mot Expiry: July 2005

The vendor has created this most accurate GTO rep without destroying an existing Ferrari, a 330 GTE being the most commonly employed donor. It is based on a modified Datsun 260Z bodyshell, albeit with altered GRP panels, ensuring that major dimensions and proportions of the original have been faithfully replicated. Details include correct-style opening rear boot, spare wheel mounted above aluminium fuel tank, correct bonnet and front panel shape including trademark triple air vents and radiator filler.
A TVR Chimaera 4-litre eight is fed by four twin-choke downdraught Dellorto carbs, exhausting through free-flow system with four exhaust tailpipes as on the original. As per current Datsun racing practice, it has been modified with adjustable Leda suspension and nylon bushes, ventilated front brakes and aluminium rear drums. Trim is a cross between full race and road with 6-point roll-cage, 4-point harnesses, quilted panels and carpets. Original and replicated Ferrari components have been used, including Atlissimo/Marchal lights, Nardi wheel, 5 1/2 in fuel filler and vented Perspex window.
With only 3300 miles since completion, including a trip to Le Mans, it has been painted in traditional Rosso Chiaro with Supagard sealant and period racing decals. The `Ferrari' badges depict a silhouette of the UK, but in yellow and black `Prancing Horse' style. Such detailing was acknowledged with a `Best of Show' award on the Italian Kit Car stand at Newark 1998. A portfolio contains build details, including 60 progress photos, supplier invoices and technical drawings.
