Lot details Registration No: 217 XUE Chassis No: FX3D235638 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Though 12,435 Austin FX3s and FL1s (the Hire Car derivative) were manufactured between 1949 and 1958, few are ever now seen on the road. '217 XUE' reportedly spent 25 years as a Taxi in London and Birmingham before being exported to Holland for use as a wedding hire vehicle. Owned by the vendor for six years the Austin has been subject to a respray, interior tidy-up and thorough engine overhaul. He now rates the Black paintwork and 2.2-litre powerplant as 'excellent' and tells us a new clutch was fitted 100 miles ago. Started-up and run for a few miles every week, the FX3D is also understood to benefit from regular servicing despite being MOT exempt. Offered for sale with its original-type meter, spare headlamps and spare flywheel this delightful item of British history can equally serve as personal transport with a difference or a vehicle for special hire.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
