Living up to expectations can be a burden. Consider the handsome Geoff Lawson-penned XK8 that followed in the wheel-tracks of such automotive icons as the XK120 and immortal E-type. Like the latter, it made its debut at the Geneva Salon - that of 1996 - and from launch was available in either Coupe or Convertible guise. Power came from a normally aspirated 4.0-litre version of the company's DOHC V8 AJ26 engine.
Manufactured in 1999 and first registered in the UK in January that year, this XK8 is finished in metallic Purple with a Beige leather interior and Beige hood. Having covered 102,900 miles across a total of six keepers, the Jaguar is understood to have been fitted with later replacement engine from Jaguar recall. Recently subject to a brake overhaul which included front pads, calipers, and pipes, as well as handbrake shoes, the Convertible was additionally subject to hood mechanism fettling in 2019, a new battery, and a service costing circa £1,260. Offered with a collection of invoices.
