Lot 33 - 1991 Nissan Figaro

1991 Nissan Figaro

Lot details
Registration No: J959NLT
Chassis No: FK10-018443
Mot Expiry: Oct 2007

In the late 1980s, Nissan responded to the craze in Japan for all things 'retro' by launching a series of small volume production models based on the mechanicals of existing models but featuring inspired 1950s/60s influenced styling both inside and out. The first of these was the Figaro, initially shown as a concept car but then put into limited production following overwhelmingly positive public reaction. Based upon then current Micra mechanicals and floorpan, the cute coupe styling gave the Fiagro a completely different image and look from anything else available on the market at the time. Produced in strictly limited numbers for the Japanese market only, the production run sold out in a matter of weeks as it became the cult car for Tokyo urbanites to be seen in. Encouraged by this success, Nissan went on to produce the cleverly named S Cargo light van (escargot being French for snail, get it?) with strong influences from the Citroen 2CV van, which was equally successful. And of course this happened years before Volkswagen designed the New Beetle and BMW brought us the New Mini, although no one particular car was used as a basis for the Figaro's styling.
Over the intervening years many Figaros have made their way over to the UK as their original right-hand drive specification makes them eminently suitable for British roads. On offer here today is just one such car, finished in standard grey with white leather interior. Fitted as standard with an automatic gearbox (no manual option was ever offered), the mileage of 120,000 KM shown is guaranteed correct by the vendor. Described as' very good' in areas of engine, electrics, transmission and interior and 'excellent' regarding bodywork, paintwork, chassis and wheels/tyres the vendor tells us this car is in 'pristine condition throughout' and has just had a cambelt fitted at a recent service. Fitted with a new hood in addition to the standard air conditioning and CD player it is MOT'd until October 2007.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
