Lot details Registration No: T.B.A. Chassis No: CR23810 Mot Expiry: Jan 2013
The Triumph TR2 was launched in 1953, beginning a chain of successful two-seater sports cars that ended with the TR8 in 1981. The evolution was steady but continuous, and the TR6 introduced in late 1968 was effectively a cleverly updated TR5. For the body revisions Triumph had initially turned to Michelotti - the Italian maestro who styled the TR4/TR5. However, he could not meet their schedule and the squaring of the nose and tail were ultimately achieved by the German designers at Karmann - the model's underpinnings were broadly as per the TR5. A total of 94,619 TR6s were produced, a mere 8,370 of which were sold on the home market.
The right-hand drive TR6 now on sale hails from 1973 and sports Yellow bodywork contrasted with Black leather upholstery. It is equipped with a factory-fitted overdrive gearbox and has recently been treated to new wings all round. It departs from standard in benefiting from an unleaded cylinder head and a set of six-inch Cobra chrome wire wheels. Recently treated to a service, the Triumph currently displays an unwarranted 96,355 miles and is described by the vendor as "average" in regard to its bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and transmission. The car's MOT is valid until October 2013.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until January 2013.
