William Morris, later to become Lord Nuffield, introduced his Bullnose Morris Oxford in 1913 and, after the Great War, his aggressive price-cutting policy enabled the Morris name to be made in large quantities and at a more attractive price. In the 1920s, commanding a 41 per cent market share, Morris Motors of Cowley were the UK's number one car maker.
One of the most enduring of all of the British-made postwar classics has been the Alec Issigonis engineered Morris Minor. The first lady owner purchased this Cowley-built righthand drive example in 1957, when it was new, running it until 1992 when it was acquired by the vendor.
The current condition of the bodyshell is described as still original and good, while paintwork and interior, both also said to be original and in grey, are reportedly good too. The 948cc 4-cylinder and 4-speed manual gearbox are claimed to be in good order. The 49,712 miles displayed when entered for this sale is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage. It has been MOTd until next May.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
