Lot details Registration No: DWR 685 Chassis No: 540 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Built in 1938, two years into the production run of Morgan's first four wheel model, DWR 685 was registered on 25th March 1939. According to its accompanying logbook, the car was originally finished in green before being repainted dark blue in the 1960s. Having subsequently fallen into disuse, it was discovered in poor condition following a quarter of century of exposure to the elements by two friends who set about a thorough restoration utilising 90% new parts which has taken over seven years. Sadly due to illness, and after considerable expenditure, the car is now reluctantly being offered for sale. The work, which is said to be 98% complete, included a new galvanized chassis, new wings and ash frame whilst the Coventry Climax engine and gearbox have been thoroughly overhauled with new parts, including gears, fitted as necessary. Having completed just 8 miles since, it will naturally require finishing and running in. Repainted in Royal Ivory with black interior, this charming early Moggie is offered with buff logbook, Swansea V5, instruction book and invoices.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
