Suzuki started in 1900 by making power-looms for cotton weaving, 36cc powered-bicycle manufacturing not starting until 1952 with motorcycle production following shortly afterwards until the marque, along with Honda and Yamaha, became one of Japan’s ‘Big Three’ bike makers. Suzuki diversified into making four-wheelers in 1956 with the launch of the Suzulight, a front-wheel drive micro-saloon which was powered by an air-cooled, two-stroke of 360cc capacity. Although a larger prototype with 785cc triple-pot engine was unveiled at the 1962 Tokyo Motor Show, the first full-size Suzuki car, the Fronte 800 did not go into production until 1964.
History from new with this Cappuccino two-seater, which was built by Suzuki at their Hamamatsu factory in Japan in 1994, indicates that the three-position, targa-convertible has had three lady owners. Also on file are previous MOTs, the latest certificate being valid until October, as well as magazine articles and press photos of M502 LBA.
Currently, two-door bodyshell, red paintwork, alloy wheels, black leather trim, 657cc three-cylinder motor, five-speed manual gearbox and electrical items are described as being in good condition by the vendor, who tells us that apart combining fun with style, it is also great to drive.
