Peter Wheeler’s 23-year tenure of TVR (1981-2004) saw the Blackpool marque produce a series of ever faster and more outlandish looking cars. Part of that tradition, ‘VX54 OEY’ began life as a T350 Coupe fitted with a 3605cc ‘Speed Six’ engine allied to five-speed manual transmission. Rumoured to have been built to enhanced ‘Red Rose’ specification and to have initially served as a press car, the two-seater was subject to a Category C insurance write off in 2012. Rather than having the Coupe repaired, the then owner decided to have it reconfigured using an ex-factory Sagaris chassis and bodyshell (the Sagaris was in essence a more track focused / higher performance T350). A major undertaking, the reborn TVR was subject to a stringent SVA / IVA test when complete (a fact noted on its accompanying V5C Registration Document). Thought to have covered circa 17,000 at the time of its 2012 mishap, ‘VX54 OEY’ now shows some 32,000 miles to its odometer with service stamps at: 980 (15/03/05), 2,581 (17/10/05), 8,800 (31/7/07), 11,036 (5/6/08), 14,573 (14/9/09), 16,015 (5/5/11), 17,991 (31/5/12), 22,174 (27/6/15), 27,197 (20/2/17) and 31,223 miles (23/11/19). Firing readily upon inspection and sounding suitably menacing, the two-seater draws a crowd wherever it goes. Riding on Gold seven-spoke alloy wheels shod with Toyo Proxes T1 Sports tyres, this jaw-dropping TVR hybrid is expected to possess a fresh MOT certificate by the time of sale.
